Legislative Platform
In preparation for the 2010 state and federal legislative sessions, the City Council updated its official legislative platform on December 8, 2009 to serve as a foundation for a focused advocacy strategy. The platform outlines guiding principles on a broad range of issues giving staff and the City's legislative advocate direction on important issues.
San Marcos' 2010 legislative platform is based on priorities adopted by the League of California Cities, the statewide association that represents the common interests of California's 480 cities.
The platform includes protection of local finances from state raids, the preservation of local control on issues dealing with land use and zoning, sustainable and efficient energy strategies, labor relations, redevelopment and telecommunications.
The platform also includes a federal funding request for the Woodland Parkway-Barham Drive widening project.
